RADON MITIGATION SYSTEM COMPONENT
ADDITIONAL SYSTEM COMPONENTS
Some additional components that comprise a radon mitigation system are
shown below and at left. Plastic PVC pipe is usually used to channel the air flow
from under the house slab to a safe discharging point above the roofline.
Flexible rubber couplings provide an airtight seal and are used to attach the radon fan to
the PVC pipe.
System labels will be provided by the mitigation contractor to identify the system, its
components, and service information.
Other system accessories and components such as vent caps, fire barriers, roof boots,
radon sealant, etc. may or may not be used to complete the installation of the system and
assure the radon levels are reduced to a government acceptable level.
